Yesterday, I was on my way to the train station and I decided to stop for a coffee at Starbucks.

Once I got into the local train I realised that it was really crowded but managed to find a seat next to a man.

Now this man decided to start a conversation with me and asked me,

“Are you a software engineer?”

So I answered that yes I was and he eyed my coffee cup and ended up saying,

“What I have observed from most of the software engineers is that they spend money to show off rather than to spend for a living.”

I looked at him in disbelief,

“Excuse me? I’m sorry sir, but I don’t think I really got what you’re trying to say.”

“What I mean to say is that..we humans go to amazing places..what for? Not to explore and enjoy it, but to tell people around us that we’ve actually been there. Tell me one thing..how much did you actually spend at this coffee shop you went to?”

He asked me.

“I spent around a 1000 Rupees for three people. Why?”

He started laughing as if I told him some sort of a joke.

“I fund a girl child for her education every month.

I spend around 800 Rupees and with that if you go to Starbucks you might be getting a hot coffee…but at the same time that same amount of money can help a girl for her education for a whole month!

Please do think about what I’m trying to say.”

He said and left.
