My Sister-in-Law Sabotaged My Christmas Dinner by Burning My Turkey—But Karma Struck Back When Grandma Exposed Her in Front of Everyone

This time, my sister-in-law took her disdain of me to an entirely new level and absolutely ruined my Christmas. She had always had a negative attitude about me. She increased the temperature of the oven when no one was looking, which resulted in my cherished turkey being badly scorched beyond repair.

I was in utter disbelief. Karma, however, struck back in the most unexpected way as she chuckled at her own foolishness. It never occurred to me that I would find myself in the middle of a full-blown outburst on Christmas Day, yet here we are.

While Theo and I had been married for a period of six months, I was aware that the holiday get-togethers that his family held were a significant tradition. Each decoration had to be perfect, each dish had to be a classic, and each and every detail had to be exquisite. “Lydia, please stop tampering with the tablecloth,” Theo whispered as he gently placed his hands on my shoulders.

“It all appears to be in excellent condition.”

I had just started my new job as the head of marketing two years ago, and he was the chief financial officer who couldn’t stop starring at me all evening long. Our relationship had been a whirlwind, consisting of two years of dating, a proposal that took place over a lovely sunset, and a stunning summer wedding that even his sister was unable to critique.

While I was cleaning the silverware once more, I whispered, “Your sister really does not like someone like me.”

He heaved a sigh. It is not true that Fiona despises you. Simply put, she takes matters pertaining to her family very seriously.

Taking a quick glance at my phone, I remarked, “Serious is kind of a word.” They are expected to arrive in one hour. The turkey has been brought in, and everything is proceeding as planned. My nerves are in knots.

“Do you know what it is about you that I admire the most, Lydia?” Theo encircled my waist with his arms on both sides. When you are under intense strain, you never lose your composure. Such as when the projector malfunctioned during the presentation that took place a month ago?
